Sock at Sunset
Here is the sock as it stands right now, just past the gusset and enjoying the sunset view from a local park:
Here is what the sock was looking at:
It was a beautiful evening here in Seattle.
On the topic of socks, if there are any visitors here from Sockapalooza, I'd love to get your input on whether or not you use sock reinforcement thread at the heels and/or toes of your socks, and what your favorite type is. I usually use Schoeller+Stahl Fortissima Socka reinforcement thread at the heels and toes of most of the socks that I make. It seems to come in a variety of colors and you can find it almost anywhere. I'm using a dark brown in this latest sock for my Sock Pal. Does anyone know where one could find this stuff in bulk -- on small cones or something like that?

Beautiful sock! Beautiful sunset!
I've never used reinforcement thread. Sorry I'm not much help there...

I don't particularly like using reinforcing thread--it adds bulk and it doesn't seem to help the socks last any longer (IMHO). Instead, I knit almost exclusively with wool/nylon blend sock yarns. Mountain Colors Barefoot, Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock, knitpicks finally has dye-your-own wool/nylon blend...and then there are all of those mass-produced yarns--trekking, regia, megabootsstretch...the list goes on and on and on...

Wow, you're already that far! I haven't even decided on a yarn color yet. ;0) Looks great!

The sock looks great! While I haven't used reinforcing thread, I think it sounds like a good idea.

I like your choice, the yarn is beautiful and the pattern choice too.

I've used elastic to reinforce poor ribbing, but I haven't used reinforcing thread. That's a great looking sock, by the way--you'll be done waaaaay before Aug. 2!

I don't use sock reinforcing thread, but that's mostly because I'm lazy (too lazy to buy it, too lazy to add it when I have it, etc.).

Beautiful sock and a beautiful view! I love the colors. I don't use reinforcing thread... have never tried it... as for a sturdy heel, I like a partridge eye heel - it seems to be very strong and I love the way it looks (front and backside).

I have never used reinforcing thread, actually I had never even heard of it until now. Just wanted to say that your sock is beautiful.
